The following Projects are in need of volunteers as both leaders and individual contributors.  Earn up to 5 PDUs for your active participation on these exciting volunteer opportunities!  Learn new professional development skills, meet new people and work closely with the Board of Directors.  Sharpen your leadership skills and become known in the Delaware Valley Project Management community.

New Project List

Vijay Verma Day – Full/Active                                                                          Event; APR 3, 2008

The objective of this project is the planning and promotion of a one day Professional Development Educational Event to be conducted by Vijay Verma. Vijay Verma is a well-known Human Skills guru, author, and educator in the project management arena. Event will be held at the Conference Center at Penn State Great Valley. (Project Sponsor: Frank Walker)

 

Philadelphia School District Project Learning Program                                       

Needed:   Team Members (3

PM assigned -James R. Snyder

The objective of this project is to support a group of educational partners to pilot and implement a project management course, based on learning concepts, in the Philadelphia School District. PMI-DVC will be responsible for active input to the curriculum for the pilot course and initial course offerings. It will identify, select, qualify and train classroom mentors for a class project associated with a project management course to be presented by De Vry University instructors. Mentors will not be responsible for presentation of course material or administration of the program. The pilot program and initial course offerings will be conducted at Philadelphia School District facilities and two city high schools. Mentors must be willing to volunteer approximately 25 hours over a period of either 6 or 10 weeks. (Project Sponsor: Michael Brennan

 

Region 4 Meeting  - TEAM – Full/Active

The objective of this project is to create the annual regional meeting for all regional board members in the Philadelphia area. The project team will plan and deliver support activities for the regional meeting to be held  in the Philadelphia or surrounding area by the end the 2nd quarter of 2008. (Project Sponsor: Laurie Rudnitsky)

 

Membership Support and Networking – Full/Active

The objective of this project is to assist the PMI-DVC chapter in producing higher quality meetings along with increasing the networking capability at the monthly dinner meetings. The goals of the project are to (1.) produce quality meetings regarding food, topics, cost and location, supporting growth in membership and (2.) increase networking capability at regularly scheduled meetings (i.e. monthly dinner meetings, quarterly networking meetings, etc.  Among the activities that the project team will perform are (1.) Conducting three (3) Networking meetings in 2008 outside of the regularly scheduled monthly dinner meetings, (2.)  Developing a Membership Badge Program, (3.) Developing a Membership Referral Program, (4.)  Developing a Membership Raffle Program, and (5.) Developing a Membership Vendor Program.    (Project Sponsor: Fred Hammond)

 

PMI-DVC Template Revision TEAM Full/Active

The objective of this project is to generate better and consistent templates for the chapter board to use for project charters, status reports, etc. This project will include the generation of a survey/request from the membership, evaluation of the responses, communication with the board for their input, manual modifications to existing templates (or creation of  new templates) and preparation of How-To’s for consistent use of the templates. (1 project manager and 2 team members needed for this project.) (Project Sponsor: Rob Beane)

 

Annual Professional Development Day (PM Tool Conference)TEAM Full/Active  FALL 2008

The objective of the project is to provide membership with an annual professional day that is educational, in nature, informative and allows networking amongst the membership.  Event usually is a combination of speakers and vendor presentations.  (Project Sponsor:  Laurie Rudnitsky)  - Project charter requires approval

 

New Member Night – Full/Active                                                                                      SPRING 2008

The objective of this project is to create an evening event that will introduce new members to the benefits of the PMI-DVC chapter and allow them to meet other members, active chapter participants and Board of Directors. (Project Sponsor:  Rob Beane)  Team is forming but project charter requires approval.

 

PMP Certification Event   – Full/Active                                                                                             FALL 2008

Needed:  PM (1)

The objective of this project is to inform members and non-members about the methods, tools, and services that enable them to obtain their PMP Certification with PMI.  Event usual involves vendors and speakers.  (Project Sponsor:  Leo Connolly)  Team is forming but charter requires approval.

 

Project of the Year TEAM Full/Active

The objective of this project is to find an team that has executed a successful project with outstanding results in 2007.  Selected project team will be presented with an award.  (Project Sponsor:  Ann Tomalavague)  Team is active but project charter requires approval.

 

In addition to the above mentioned projects, there are chapter director/associate director positions requiring volunteers.

 

Director Position List

 

Associate Director – Education (This Position Has Been Filled)

This position will support Director of education to ensure continuity and development of new educational partners who will deliver quality educational programs in partnership with the PMI-DVC.

 

Director – Volunteer Activities (This Position Has Been Filled)

This position will capture volunteer inquiries, assign volunteers to projects and ensure communications between project sponsors, Board of Directors, and volunteers. Also, this position will assist in planning recognition for volunteer participation.

The following list of projects represent chapter initiatives on the horizon. These projects require their preliminary project charters to be approved by the chapter Board of Directors. Once the charters are approved, the projects will be added to the new project list for volunteer opportunities.
